Muscat, Oman, May 22, 2013 - The Bridgestone ‘Tyre Safety and Eco Station’ (TSES) road show campaign is back in Oman. The TSES multi-purpose station which was set up in the Leisure Court of the popular Muscat City Centre, was officially inaugurated today. The station was opened to visitors on Wednesday, the 22nd and continued until the 24th of May. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was also attended by Bridgestone Middle East & Africa FZE representatives including C.K. Prasad, General Manager of Gulf and East Africa Nigeria branch for Bridgestone Middle East and Africa FZE. Also among the attendees were key representatives from Towell Auto Centre LLC, the company’s sole distributor for Oman that fully endorsed the initiative, as well as Oommen John, Assistant General Manager of Tyre for Towell Auto Centre LLC. Commenting on the campaign C.K. Prasad said, “The results of the survey that we conducted last year are alarming – only 42 per cent of Omani motorists affirmed practicing tyre checks on a regular basis. There is still a lot that can be done and for this reason Bridgestone is coming back with the TSES education campaign for the third consecutive year. We hope that our efforts will help make the roads in Oman a safer place for drivers and their families”. The TSES campaign was developed by Bridgestone Middle East & Africa FZE as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives and has been educating motorists across the GCC and North Africa for the last two years. Bridgestone is keen on helping drivers understand the vital role that tyres play in keeping a vehicle safe on the road and aims to emphasize the importance of taking a few minutes to check the car’s tyres before driving and how it can significantly reduce the risk of having an accident. The TSES station has a special demonstration corner where Bridgestone staff can educate visitors with effortless steps to enhance safety while driving on roads. Drivers are shown and can practice how to check the proper tyre air pressure and tread wear to avoid the dangers of driving with underinflated or overinflated and worn-out or damaged tyres. The booth also hosts a section entirely for kids, where they can have fun with eco-themed drawing activities and face painting, while their parents learn about tyre safety. As well as pointing out the safety benefits of proper tyre checks and maintenance, the campaign also emphasizes the positive environmental impact of maintaining correct tyre pressure. Driving a vehicle on properly inflated tyres helps reduce the rolling resistance of the vehicle, which aids in reducing fuel consumption hence minimizing motorists’ expenses.
