Bridgestone pioneers installation of electric vehicle chargers at key tyres store in Middle East and Africa

New mobility solution targets to provide more charging stations for EV drivers and boost interest in sustainable transport

Electric vehicle (EV) drivers can soon recharge their car batteries at some of Bridgestone Middle East’s leading tyres retail centers in the region, the company has announced following the installation of a dedicated EV charging station at one of its flagship stores.

Bridgestone Middle East inaugurated its first EV charging station supplied by ABB located in its flagship store in Jebel Ali as a complimentary and valued-added services to its customers. The initiative is a pioneering move which has made the company the first in the industry to offer the sustainable mobility solutions in the Middle East and Africa markets.

Commenting during the launch of the initiative, Stefano Sanchini, Regional Managing Director of Bridgestone Middle East, said: “We are proud to open Bridgestone’s flagship stores as a venue for electric vehicle car owners to recharge and refill their fuel, in line with our continuing efforts to take the lead in the region in providing sustainable mobility solutions to our customers.”

Sanchini added: “This is just the beginning and we look forward to installing more EV chargers across all our key retail stations. We believe that this is the future of mobility and these efforts are aimed at enhancing their driving experience, considering Bridgestone’s sustainability strategy, in line with its vision to maintain global leadership in providing advanced mobility solutions.”

Having more electric vehicle charging stations available for EV users are crucial to the success of sustainable transport as it will encourage more car owners to drive EVs when there is easy access to charging stations. In Dubai, Bridgestone follows the footsteps of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Tesla, which have installed EV charging stations in their networks offering free services to their customers. The trend has been boosting the interest of vehicle owners to consider and shift to using EVs.
