Tyre day in Japan is announced on 8th of April by Japan Automobile Tyre Manufacturers Association (JATMA). On this day employees of Bridgestone Japan visit their customers to educate them about the importance of tyre safety. Taking this concept from Japan, Bridgestone MEA will launch a Tyre week across UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain starting from 14th April to 21st April 2016.

During this period, more than 100 Bridgestone Safety Advisors will be visiting approximately 150 tyre retail outlets to educate customers about the importance of tyre safety.

Bridgestone is committed to educating motorists and encouraging the proper practice of tyre safety and want all customers to experience Bridgestone quality. During each visit to Bridgestone’s Tyre dealing stores, customers will have the opportunity to learn how to properly inspect tyres, with the assistance of Bridgestone Safety Advisors. It is very important to remember that no matter what vehicle you drive, if your tyres fail, your entire journey gets disrupted and the safety of your family is at risk.

Bridgestone will continue their safety campaign by launching 3 years ‘Peace of Mind’ where customers will be reassured that their tyres will be cared and maintained by industry experts all at their convenience. Bridgestone endeavours to continuously raise awareness around tyre safety in their on-going efforts to make roads a safer place. For further information on the '3 Years Peace of Mind' campaign, please visit http://bridgestone-mea.com/peaceofmind/

Below are some easy to follow tyre care tips, recommended as part of Bridgestone’s safety campaign. Through regular check-up of these points, drivers will stay safe on the road while saving time and money.

Do a daily visual check

  • Check that all tyres have appropriate inflation pressure
  • Check the sidewalls for cracks or unusual bulges and remove any foreign objects (e.g. stones or nails) that could puncture your tyre

Do a Monthly Tyre Pressure Check

  • Check and maintain appropriate pressure by visiting a tyre retailer or a Gas Station
  • Do not forget to check the inflation pressure of your spare tyre

Check for Irregular Wear

This is when one section of the tyre is more worn out than the rest and it occurs when:

  • Tyres are not inflated appropriately
  • Tyres which are not properly aligned
  • Tyres are not balanced

“Internal market research shows that approximately 30% of vehicles on the road are with improper inflation pressures. Some of these tasks are hassle-free, easy to maintain and should be carried out at least once a month. We want to raise awareness and highlight that regular maintenance can prevent accidents and prolong tyre life in addition to prioritizing tyre safety throughout the region.” said Yusuke Tokoshima, Deputy GM for Consumer Business, Bridgestone Middle East & Africa.
