Bridgestone’s commitment to safety continues at Jeddah’s Red Sea Mall. Visitors to the TSES road show were given advice on simple tyre and vehicle checks they can make to improve the safety of themselves and their passengers. Jeddah, June 27, 2012 (7th Shaban 1433 A.H.) – The Bridgestone ‘Tyre Safety and Eco Station’ (TSES) campaign, which is touring the GCC with its second annual roadshow, stopped over at Jeddah’s Red Sea Mall and opened its multi-purpose station to the public in the main activity area of the mall on the ground floor today. The station, which is open to the public from 4pm to 11pm, will run its education and awareness campaign on tyre safety until tomorrow, Thursday 28th June. The campaign, developed by Bridgestone Middle East & Africa FZE as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, was launched in 2011 and kicked off its second GCC wide tour last March in Doha, Qatar. With the support of Al Talayi Company Ltd., its trusted local distributor, Bridgestone urges drivers to understand the key role of tyres for keeping a vehicle safe on the road, and that taking a few minutes to check the car’s tyres before driving can significantly reduce the risk of having an accident. “Car tyres play a significant role in the safety of the vehicle and most of all its passengers. Bridgestone is committed at making roads a safer place and with this campaign we want to increase motorists’ awareness on the advantages of driving a vehicle with properly maintained tyres” said Mr Deep Rajendran (Corporate Communication & Training Manager at Bridgestone Middle East & Africa FZE), who attended the ribbon-cutting inauguration ceremony this morning. “At the Bridgestone Tyre Safety and Eco Station people can learn some simple and quick-to implement tyre checking procedures that should become routine for every driver before getting behind the wheel”. The stand has a special demonstration corner where Bridgestone staff help to educate visitors with some effortless steps to enhance safety while driving on the roads. Drivers can practice how to check the proper tyre air pressure and tread wear to avoid the dangers of driving with underinflated/overinflated and worn-out or damaged tyres. The TSES station has also a section specially dedicated to kids, where they can have fun with eco-themed drawing and entertainment activities, while their parents learn about tyre safety. As well as pointing out the safety benefits of proper tyre check and maintenance, the campaign also emphasises the positive environmental impact of maintaining correct tyre pressure. Driving a vehicle on properly inflated tyres helps to reduce the rolling resistance of the vehicle, which aids in reducing fuel consumption hence minimising motorists’ expenses. The 2012 Bridgestone ‘Tyre Safety and Eco Station’ campaign has already visited Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait; after the stopover in Saudi Arabia, the road show will finish its tour in the UAE.
