Bridgestone Middle East and Africa FZE, with the support of Robert Bosch Middle East FZE launched a new initiative to promote road safety. The Safety Station campaign encourages drivers to check their vehicles before hitting the road and to make sure that they are properly maintained and ready for the journey.

The campaign will kick off in Dubai with activities planned over two weekends, 13 -14 June at Dubai Marina Mall and 20-21 June at Times Square Centre, and is timed to alert drivers for the particular need during the hot summer months for vehicle inspection and maintenance.

“The UAE’s severe climate, the dusty and sandy conditions and the high summer temperatures take a high toll on vehicles and general maintenance is critical to avoid break downs or accidents,” says Shoichi Sakuma, President of Bridgestone Middle East and Africa. “At the ‘Safety Station’ we will be setting up in Dubai Marina Mall and then at Time Squares Center, visitors will be able to receive useful information and advice about making sure their vehicle is properly maintained. They will be able to learn how to check their car’s tyres, batteries, oil and wipers that – if not properly maintained - could put their own and their passengers’ lives at risk.” Shoichi Sakuma, added: “At Bridgestone, we are committed to making our roads safer, not only by providing drivers with our innovative and high quality products, but also through education.

Driving with worn-out or damaged tyres or with incorrect air pressure has serious safety implications and can put lives at risk. This initiative is part of our effort to tackle road safety issues and we are delighted to partner with Bosch and work towards the same, shared goal”.Bridgestone has been educating drivers across the region about proper tyre care and maintenance since 2011 when the first Tyre Safety and Eco Station (TSES) roadshow took place. The campaign was ideated specifically for the Middle East region to reduce the lack of knowledge about the strong correlation between tyres and road safety.

The new Safety Campaign will be educating drivers not only about tyre maintenance but about vehicle’s most important safety elements. In the Tyre Safety area stand’s visitors will be explained about the importance of maintaining correct tyre air pressure, how to check tread depth and other important tyre safety measures which enhances safety while driving. The Auto Care & Maintenance section will be focusing on car’s battery, engine oil and wipers; by using some special demo tools the stand’s staff will be showcasing the consequences of an irregular and incorrect maintenance of these three elements and giving tips on how often they should be checked and replaced. And for those drivers who will not be able to visit the Safety Station, Bridgestone’s Tyre and Auto care stores - FirstStop – offers its customers a complete tyre service - which includes alignment, balancing, repair, and rotation – and also a comprehensive list of auto-care services including oil/filter change, engine flushing and diagnostic, wiper change, AC service and battery.

The Safety Station that will be set up at the Dubai Marina Mall and at the Times Square Center on Sheikh Zayed Road, and will be open to public from 2 pm to 10 pm on both days.
