Apr 13 , 2011

Riyadh, April 13, 2011 – Bridgestone Middle East and Africa is exhibiting at the Janadriyah Festival in Riyadh, starting today and until 29th April, with a dedicated stand in the Japanese Pavilion. The Bridgestone exhibition booth, supported by their prominent local partner –Al Talayi Tyres Est, is a multi functional area that will engage visitors with different aspects of the company’s commitment to product excellence and its environmental mission. Complementing the stand is the life-size replica of “Fuji”, the dolphin, with the artificial rubber tailfin. The prosthetic tailfin, the first one ever in the world, was developed by Bridgestone engineers in collaboration with scientists and staff of the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Japan. Its creation is aimed to help Fuji which was handicapped due to a mysterious disease that completely damaged her tailfin. With Bridgestone’s ingenious engineering and technology, and the effort and enthusiasm of the whole team, Fuji has now regained the ability to swim like she could before and even jump. Mr. Takumi Kakara, Marketing Director for Bridgestone Middle East & Africa, says: “We are really proud of being part of this cultural festival and one representing Japan. The mission of our group is Serving Society with Superior Quality and we want to show people how we fulfill this through our activities and products.” Bridgestone works toward a sustainable society and considers the environment, health and safety matters to be an integral part of all its business. The company keeps on working to improve its environmental performance both in the production, operation and service phase. It’s developing energy-efficient products and systems to reduce its impact on the environment and conserve natural resources. Bridgestone is also involved in different educational projects aimed to raise environmental awareness through the society. Some of them are realized in partnership with EWS-WWF to teach kids the importance of protecting the wildlife and the environment. At the Janadriya Festival Bridgestone booth has a special corner dedicated to its green mission to show visitors the efforts the company is doing to contribute to the environment protection.
